The Pagani Zonda is a sports car built by the Italian manufacturer Pagani. It debuted in 1999, and production ended in 2011, with three special edition cars, the Zonda 760RS, Zonda 760LH and the Zonda 764 Passione, being produced in 2012. As of June 2009, 206 Zondas had been built, including test mules. Both 2-door coupe and roadster versions have been produced. Construction is mainly of carbon fiber.

The Zonda S 7.3 of 2002 used a new, larger V12 engine displacing 7.3 L (445 cu in) designed and manufactured by Mercedes-Benz AMG producing 555 PS (408 kW; 547 hp) and 750 N·m (550 lb·ft). And to better handle the power, traction control and ABS were made standard. Performance claims were unchanged from the Zonda S.
In February 2003 the UK automotive magazine EVO attempted a top speed run on the Autobahn in which the car topped out at 198 mph (319 km/h), 10 mph (16 km/h) off the mark of its claimed top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). Company representatives at Pagani's factory claimed this was the result of the car being in the setting for maximum down force, something that would drop its top speed to around 200 mph (320 km/h). However, the EVO article claimed that aerodynamic parts, specifically ones which created drag were in fact removed during the run, bringing Pagani's claims into question.
In 2003 Pagani presented the Zonda Roadster, a roadster version of the Zonda S 7.3. Carrying the same components as the coupe, Pagani promised no loss of performance, a claim supported by the minimal weight gain of 30 kilograms (66 lb). A total of 12 roadsters were produced.
[edit]Zonda F
The Zonda F debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is the most extensive re-engineering of the Zonda yet, though it shares much with its predecessors including the 7.3 L AMG V12 engine which through enhanced intake manifolds, exhaust and a revised ECU now produces 602 PS (443 kW; 594 hp) at 6150 rpm and 560 lb·ft (759 N·m) at 4000 rpm.
Production of the Zonda F was limited to 25 cars. Named after Formula One driver Juan Manuel Fangio, it came equipped with an extra headlight and different fog lights at the sides, new bodywork (revised front end, new rear spoiler, more aerodynamic vents all around) that improved the car's aerodynamics, and different side mirrors. Further enhancements over the 'S' centered around optional carbon/ceramic brakes developed in conjunction with Brembo, magnesium wheels, inconel titanium exhaust system, hydroformed aluminum intake plenum and a redesigned 'Z preg' weave in the crash structure to improve rigidity and reduce weight.

NHTSA Says No to Pagani Huayra Because it Doesn’t Comply with New Airbag Rules

Pagani’s new supercar, the V12-powered 700HP Huayra, will not be sold in the United States unless its maker conforms to the latest airbag regulations.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) denied Pagani’s request for an exemption to the 11-year old safety rule that mandates the existence of “smart” airbags.
These airbags, which are mandatory the last 11 years for all new cars under US regulations, have sensors that adjust the deployment force depending on the seat occupant’s weight and height. Only limited-production carmakers have been granted a waiver in the past five years, including Lamborghini and Tesla, based on financial grounds.
Pagani claims that, at best, it well sell five of its $1.1 million supercars in the US next year, whereas developing the advanced airbags demanded by US federal law would cost €4.0 million.
In addition, the loss of net income due to NHTSA’s denial of a waiver would cost it an additional $4.5 million (€3.2 million) until 2015.

NHTSA Notice Summary:
"This notice denies the petition of Pagani Automobili SpA (Pagani) for exemption from certain advanced air bag requirements of FMVSS No. 208, for the Huayra model.
The basis for the application is that the petitioner avers compliance would cause substantial economic hardship and that it has tried in good faith to comply with the standard. The agency has determined that Pagani has failed to demonstrate that compliance would cause substantial economic hardship.
Furthermore, the agency is unable to find that an exemption would be consistent with the public interest or the objectives of the Safety Act. This action follows our publication in the Federal Register of a document announcing receipt of Pagani’s petition and soliciting public comments.

Pagani C9 Supercar a brand new car from concept

Pagani C9 Supercar

Expect a debut towards the end of the year. As Pagani ramps up for C9 production, the Zonda will slowly cease construction by September. Construction will still be a painstaking process, however, as the C9 is a new car from the ground up, with 3,770 new parts. The boost comes from a planned move to a new production facility.

Planned production is tipped at just 60 cars per year, though that's an almost four-fold increase from the current 16 hand-built cars per year. BTW, anyone have a sticker for me, Highspeed testing vehicle and thats even Gouverment approved. When the production in on in late 2010, the Pagani will cost around € 900.000 so you still have some time to save your money. It will feature a 6.0 liter V12 Mercedes-Benz AMG engine delivering some 700 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque.

Thanks to a sharp eyed guy in South Africa we got some photos of the new Pagani Supercar, the C9. I may say that this is pretty amazing but taking a look at the shapes of this car, it is pretty understandable the power that it comes with. This 2011 Pagani C9 will come with a 6.0 liter V12 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG which is able to develop up to 700 horsepower and also a maximum torque of 737 pound-feet. Fortunately, he was left relatively unscathed. The driver of this prototype managed to lose control and crash into a center barrier of a highway in Germany while testing the car at high speeds.

Sadly, these latest spy shots show the car in a very unfortunate state. And its replacement, the C9, looks set to have even more more, and it'll be headed to the U.S., as well. Unadulterated, bombastic carbon-fiber insanity--the current Pagani Zonda and its several variants are the embodiment of what it is to be a supercar. Here we have the best spy shots in the past time that we’ve seen and I bet that you will appreciate them very much because of the details that they are revealing caused by the distance that the photos were taken and also because it was not on the road.

Now it’s time for an all-new model: the C9. But now Pagani says the time has come to produce “a brand new car from concept.” The Pagani Zonda has served as one of the most exotic sports cars in the world for 10 years running.  Argentine-born Horacio Pagani’s sports-car company—Pagani Automobili S.p.A., based near Modena, Italy—has been hand-building the exquisite mid-engine masterpiece known as the Zonda since early 2000.

Pagani Zonda C9 the exotic sports car

Pagani Zonda C9

Here's the best news: Having been frustrated in attempts to certify the Zonda in the U.S., Pagani will design the of torque? Code-named the C9, the new Pagani will be a carbon-fiber machine, possibly powered by a Mercedes/AMG V-8, so how about the SLR's supercharged V-8 with its 617 bhp and 575 lb.-ft. While that project is being wrapped up in the original factory in San Cesario sul Panaro, both a new factory and car are being prepped for 2009.

Looking like a still-more-aggressive Zonda — if you can imagine such a thing — the R will have a 750-bhp version of the AMG V-12. Zonda production will round out at 100 with an added model called the R, a track-oriented version in the image of Ferrari's FXX. But don't mourn the supercar too much as the next step Pagani takes is pointed at the U.S. Sadly, the Zonda is nearing the end of its run.

One with a price that likely will soak up $500,000 or more. Still, you are not cushioned or coddled or kept from enjoying the unfiltered fun of a truly fast machine. Like a Ferrari Enzo, there are nicely crafted touches from the museum-quality carbon-fiber finish to air conditioning that keep this from being a race car on the streets. Being in a Zonda at speed is a pure exotic-car moment.

Plus the level of suspension and aerodynamic tuning that allows 210-plus-mph top speeds. All use 6-speed manual transmissions, Brembo disc brakes and have the sort of A-arm suspensions you'd expect in a race car. of torque, the F with 602 bhp and 561 lb.-ft., and the F Club sport dynos at 650 bhp and 575 lb.-ft. The S version comes in at 555 bhp and 553 lb.-ft.

That Zonda body style is done as a sports coupe or a roadster in three levels, all with a mid-mounted 7.3-liter AMG/Mercedes-Benz V-12. The attractive interior is a mix of modern (carbon fiber), retro (toggle switches) and art deco (the design of instruments and controls) accented with aluminum and fine leather. A photographer's dream. We didn't think the design would age well, but a decade down the line it still rivets attention and holds it — from that low nose with its four small headlamps back to the big center exhaust port corralling four outlets.

It stops you in your tracks. While lacking the classic, flowing beauty of a Pininfarina-designed Ferrari, the Zonda's shape is an attention-getter. Every Zonda features another highly prized quality among exotic cars: rarity, with fewer than 100 in existence. They've been tested fast in a straight line, reaching 0–60 mph in the mid-3-second range and proved able to get around the Nürburgring in a video game-quick 7:27.82.  A decade later, Pagani Zondas remain near the top of the exotic sports car list.

Pagani Zonda Tricolore The Unique Hypercar

Pagani Automobili created the Pagani Zonda Tricolore on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the "Frecce Tricolori", as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team.

2011 Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Only 1 will be made at a cost of $2.75 million. Italian colored stripes (red, white, green) running up the nose of the car and LED running lights set this Zonda apart from the others. This special edition Zonda is named after the Italian air force aerobatics team, known as the Frecce Tricolori. The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.

The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of 898 km/h at sea level, with nine aircraft and a solo (the highest number of aircraft of any aerobatic team in the world). You should see the Photos Car of the unique design. You’ll need to be as quick as the FrecceTricolore to grab the £1.3 million Pagani Zonda Tricolore though, as Pagani reports several customers have shown an interest in buying the unique hypercar. The Tricolore comes with a 678bhp version of the Zonda’s 7.3-litre V12, Mercedes-sourced engine and it’s good for 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 220mph.

They were formed in 1961 as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had been sponsored by various commands by the end of the 1920s. The Frecce Tricolori (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron is the demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base, in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine. In 2010 the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori comes to its 50th anniversary, wich will be celebrated on 11th and 12th September at Rivolto Airport. Pagani has come up with a new carbon fibre finish for the body of the Zonda Tricolore and there are unique air intakes mounted on top of the rear wings styled to look like the intakes of the jet fighters used by the display team.  Pagani will introduce the rare cars in the Geneva Motorshow, the 2011 Pagani Zonda Tricolore.
